A little about Shadow of the Wolf

Shadow of the Wolf was published in 2002 by Moutainview/Treble Heart books, a small print-on-demand publisher which no longer exists. “Tooting my own horn” doesn’t come easily for me, but I confess, I was proud of this award-winning book. It won ACFW’s Carol award for “e-book” of the year as well as Treble Heart’s historical book of the year in 2002. It also received a four star review from the Romantic Times magazine.

I only don’t offer it right away because I no longer have the digital copy for it. Yes, I am feverishly typing away to get it into a Word file so I can then turn it into an appropriate format for download.

As a sleeping world draws closer to war, will her heart be her own worst enemy?

To heal from a broken engagement, Anna Strayer leaves Pennsylvania to spend time in Germany with an aunt and uncle she barely remembers. Wertheim, a quaint town on the edge of the Bavarian Alps offers her the anonymity she craves. But Kristallnacht, “The Night of Broken Glass,” shatters her dream of peace and quiet. Her uncle, a member of the German resistance, enlists Anna’s help to deliver false IDs to Jews escaping the country. Her assignments fill her life with new meaning despite the looming threat of capture. A threat which takes on flesh and bone when she comes face to face with a fearsome man flashing a Gestapo badge.

With no qualms, Anna’s aunt and uncle welcome Lieutenant Ricard Von Heimer, their dead son’s best friend, into their lives. How can they be so blind? Besides being a Nazi, he’s a man…and men betray. At least young, handsome ones do.

Anna and Ricard clash at every turn while she struggles to hold tight to her secrets. It’s only a matter of time before he uncovers enough evidence to arrest the whole underground ring. But Anna’s own heartwhich races whenever Ricard is nearmight be her worst enemy. Can she rein in her attraction to the man, or will she be the downfall of those she holds dear as well as the cause of her own demise?
